Bright & Cheery Split-Front Gift Card Holder | Easy Cardmaking Tutorial (Video)

Want to give a card that’s as fun to make as it is to give?

Today I’m showing you how to create a split-front gift card holder that’s bursting with color and texture — perfect for birthdays, holidays, or anytime you want to surprise someone special with a little extra cheer.

This design features the Banner Sayings Bundle and Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder — two of my newest favorites from the latest release! You’ll also see a few sneak peeks from my upcoming December Bingo Card Class, so if you haven’t registered yet, now’s the time. (Registration closes Nov 29, but we usually sell out early!)

Project Highlights

• Split-Front Design: A fresh twist on traditional gift card holders — this one reveals a pocket and a peek of the card front when opened.
• Banner Rainbow: I used all 10 colors from the Brights DSP Pack to create a layered, colorful banner cascade that makes the sentiment strip pop.
• Embossed Texture: The new Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder adds gorgeous depth to the Basic Beige panels without stealing the spotlight.
• Sentiment Selector: I stamped multiple sentiments down a white strip in coordinating colors, then added a “finder” window (die-cut with the “O” from Alphabet à la Mode Dies) to spotlight the perfect message — such a fun touch!
• Finishing Details: A twine bow and a few Brushed Brass Butterflies complete the look with elegance.

When you open the card, you’ll find the sentiment inside along with a built-in pocket for a gift card — perfect for birthdays, holidays, or thank-yous!

In today’s video, I walk you step-by-step through how to:

• Create the split-front card base and pocket
• Emboss with perfect placement
• Stamp and layer the rainbow sentiment strip
• Customize your “finder window” for a playful detail

Creative Tip:

Did you know you can easily test all your new stamps at once without removing them from the acetate sheet?

Before you peel anything off, ink them all up and stamp onto scrap paper. Then slide that sheet behind the carrier acetate — now you’ll always know where every image belongs!
