Vertical Z Fold Card Tutorial | Beautiful Butterfly Card with Moonlit Flora (Video)

Have you ever noticed how it’s often the little details that make a handmade card feel extra special?

• A fun fold that surprises the recipient.
• Designer paper that flows perfectly across the front.
• A little shimmer catching the light.
• Soft layers of color that create depth without making the project feel complicated.

Today’s project combines all of those simple details into one elegant card that’s easier to create than you might think.

Using the All Aflutter Bundle and beautiful Moonlit Flora Suite products, we’re creating a Vertical Z Fold card that opens with a fun surprise while highlighting one of my favorite butterfly images.

Whether you’re making cards for birthdays, thinking-of-you notes, or simply because someone could use a smile, this layout can easily be adapted for almost any occasion.

Why You’ll Love This Card

One of my favorite things about this project is that it teaches several techniques you can use again and again.

During today’s tutorial you’ll learn how to:

• Create an easy Vertical Z Fold card
• Stamp butterfly images using two shades of the same ink by stamping off
• Add subtle shimmer using the Golden Glow Shimmer Brush
• Keep your Designer Series Paper pattern flowing continuously across the fold
• Add layers that create interest without overwhelming the design

These are the little design choices that make handmade cards feel polished while still being simple enough to recreate with supplies you already own.

A Little Design Tip

One of my favorite details on this card isn’t actually the fold. It’s the Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Instead of cutting random pieces, I lined up the paper so the beautiful floral scene continues across both panels when the card is closed.

It’s a tiny change…but it makes the finished card feel much more intentional.

Those small details are often what elevate a card from “pretty” to “wow.”

• 4-1/4” x 11” score 4-1/4” & 7” Secret Sea CS
• 4” x 4” Old Olive CS- emboss
• 4” x 3-3/4” Basic White CS
• 3″ x 1″ Secret Sea CS- punch
• 4-1/4” x 5” Basic White stamp/die-cut/punch
• 4″ x 5-1/2″ DSP- cut strips
• Approx. 22″ Ribbon
