Today I am sharing a lovely sunset dome card I made featuring the Colorful Seasons and High Tide stamp sets. These sets paired beautifully together to give me my peaceful beach sunset I was looking for.

This card was inspired by one I saw created by Lynn Starzl.

Of course I could not resist die cutting my beach chair out of the Wood Textures designer paper stack.

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock that I scored in 3/8″ on each side.

Next I used the largest circle in the Layering Circles framelits to die cut the center of my layer.

I stamped the card front using images from both the Colorful Seasons stamp set as well as the High Tide stamp set.

Once my stamping was complete I added Tear & Tape down both sides.

I folded the tabs back and adhere the layer to the front of 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ (folded in half) Whisper White card base.

Since the front layer is wider, when you adhere the sides it will raise up to create your dome effect.

To create the sunset in the background, I started with a 4″x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock and placed a large sticky note across it covering the bottom of the layer. This is going to create your horizon.

Using circular motions, I added Soft Sky ink to the card front with a stampin sponge.

I placed the die cut circle back on the card front and added more Soft Sky ink to the card front with a stampin sponge.

I removed the die cut circle and placed another sticky note across the front that I had torn. I added more Soft Sky ink to the card front with a stampin sponge.

I then added some Night of Navy ink along the outside of the layer in a few places to add a bit more depth with a stampin sponge.

This is how it looked when I removed the 2nd sticky note.

I repeated the process by moving the torn sticky note around the horizon and adding both the Soft Sky and Night of Navy ink to create mountains with a stampin sponge.

I removed all the sticky notes and placed a new one on the layer to cover up the sky and sponged the Soft Sky ink on the lower half.

I then sponged again with the Night of Navy ink.

Next I stamped the water image from the High Tide stamp set in Whisper White craft ink.

Here is what it looked like when I removed the sticky note.

I stamped the flock of birds from the High Tide stamp set in Memento Black ink.

I decided I wanted more of a sunset look so I used a scrap (one I messed up earlier) to cover up the skyline, leaving the sun exposed. I then covered the mountain line with the torn sticky note and sponged some Daffodil Delight and Berry Blast ink.

Once the layer was completed I just slide it up inside the dome and adhered it with snail adhesive.
