Today I am sharing the awesome Christmas ornament we made at my annual stamp party last weekend featuring the Star of Light bundle. This lovely ornament was inspired by one created by Susan Levasseur and I just had to try it.
The back of the ornament is just as nice as the front don’t you think? I just love all the die cut layers!
My sample shown in the pictures has the stamped image embossed in the Red Glitter embossing powder featured in the Holiday catalog. At the party I gave the guests a choice of doing their embossing in Red or choosing Gold. We used the Shimmer White cardstock to stamp and emboss our image on.
Once their stamped image was embossed, they cut the star out with the Big Shot and the Starlight Thinlits.
Next we cut out the Gold Foil elements with the Big Shot and the Starlight Thinlits. You might notice my sample pictured has an additional gold foil star in the layers on the front of the ornament that is not pictured here. For the party we simplified it a bit by removing this extra layer.
I pulled out the Layering Ovals to cut the largest scallop oval (die measures @ 2 3/4″ across the center outside edge) and the larger star from the Starlight Thinlits with the Big Shot. I find when cutting the Glimmer paper I like to have the paper right side down so my blade cuts thru the back side for best results.
I used the largest smooth oval to cut (die measures @ 2 5/8″ across the center outside edge) out the Real Red cardstock and then ran it through again to cut the decorative holes.
When putting the ornament together I actually started with the back side. I adhered the 1/8″ Gold ribbon with glue dots to the back of the Real Red oval and added the Gold Foil star and gold star from the Metallic Shapes embellishments.
I added dimensional dots to the back of the Real Red oval (making sure not to cover any of the cut out holes) and then adhered it to the back of the Red Glimmer scallop oval.
I then added my cut layers and another gold star from the Metallic Shapes embellishments to decorate the ornament front.
I just could not resist using dimensional dots between each layer to give it some good dimension!
Hope You Enjoy,
