Stamped Leaf Card Tutorial | Create Your Own Designer Series Paper (Video)

Have you ever had a card idea in mind but couldn’t find the patterned paper you wanted?

The good news is…you don’t always need it.

One of my favorite things about stamping is discovering new ways to use the images beyond their original purpose. For today’s card, I used the delicate leaf veining stamp to create a soft custom background, then layered stamped and punched leaves over the top to add dimension and interest.

It’s a simple technique that gives you complete creative freedom because you get to choose the colors, the spacing, and the overall look of your background.

The result is a clean, elegant design that can easily be adapted for thank you cards, friendship cards, thinking of you cards, or even fall-inspired projects.

Today we’re creating a clean and layered card featuring the Simply Leaves Stamp & Punch Bundle.

Instead of reaching for patterned paper to layer under our focal point, we’re making our own by repeatedly stamping the leaf veining image across the cardstock. This creates subtle texture without overwhelming the design.

Once the background is finished, we’ll add stamped and punched leaves in coordinating colors to create depth and a natural focal point. It’s a simple technique that gives you endless possibilities using supplies you may already own.

• 5-1/2” x 4-1/4” Very Vanilla
• 5” x 7-1/2” score 3-3/4” Very Vanilla
• 3” x 6” Very Vanilla-punch
• (2) ¾” x 1-1/2” DSP
