Today I am sharing a card I made for an upcoming swap featuring the cool offset triple stamping technique with burnishing.
I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ (folded in half) Elegant Eggplant card base that I added texture to the front with the Petals Burst embossing folder.
On the inside of the card I stamped my images with the Jar of Love and Watercolor Wishes stamp sets in Memento Black ink and sponged a bit of Night of Navy ink along the right side of the 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ Soft Sky cardstock before adhering it.
To create my focal point I used a small dot of adhesive to layer the 4 1/2″ x 2″, 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ and 2 1/8″ x 2 1/8″ pieces of Shimmer White cardstock as shown below.
You want enough adhesive to hold your pieces in place, but not too much as you will need to pull them back apart.
I used the Jar of Love and Floral Phrases stamp sets to stamp my images in Memento Black ink.
You will notice some gaps in the images where they cross over the layers. Don’t worry, this will be ok when we are complete. 🙂 The black cardstock layer hides the gaps that were created.
Using a sponge I burnished (circular motions to blend the ink into the paper) Soft Sky ink across all the layers.
I repeated the process with Wisteria Wonder ink. I like overlapping the colors a bit as I go.
To finish I repeated the process to add Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy ink across the layers.
I pulled the layers apart and backed each of them with Basic Black cardstock. Then I adhered the layers back together making sure to line up the stamped images.
Cool right? I just love this look.

Thanks Janice! I would love to see how your project turns out when you give it a try.
What are the measurements on the black cardstock to layer the stamped images on?
The black cardstock is 1/8″larger than the shimmer white cardstock. They are 4 5/8″ x 2 1/8″, 3 5/8″ x 2 5/8″ and 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″
Thank you for replying back to me with the measurements, the card is beautiful and I will be creating one this weekend..
Happy it was helpful Christina. I would love for you to share your card on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SUWendyLee/

Lovely card! What type of sponge product did you use for the sponging? Also, did you stamp the 3 layers while they were all stacked together? I am new to card making and don’t know many of the techniques. Thanks
So glad you like it Deborah. Yes I did sponge the layers while they were temporarily adhered together (before I layered them on the black cardstock) after I stamped them. I used Stampin’ Up! Stampin Sponges. These are available in my online store. They come 3 to a pack and I cut each sponge into 4 pcs- like a pie. Here is a link so you can see what they are http://bit.ly/2xn1M4U
I know this post is old and you may not respond. I’m a newbie and I fell in love with your card the moment I saw it on Pinterest. However, I’m stuck at the measurements of the card base! Is those measurements after you’ve folded the card (5 1/2 x 8 1/2)? After I score it with those measurements then fold it, it goes to 4 1/4 in width. If I leave it at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, it seems rather large!! Can you please clarify?
Jeanniene so sorry for the confusion. Yes the card base is the standard 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ cardstock folded in half. The other measurements listed are for the individual layers cut out to create the triple offset appearance. If this does not give you what you need please feel free to give me a call and we can chat 336-671-1959- Thanks
Love this design will have to give it a try, thanks for sharing !
