Today I am sharing a special Birthday pop-up card I made for my friend Paige. I wanted to do something really cool for her and I was excited with how this one turned out.
I learned this super cool fun fold from Jay & Barry at Mitosu Crafts.
When you pull the bottom tab a pop-up box jumps out of the inside of the card! Surprise!!!!
I used the Window Box thinlits and the Birthday Bright stamp set to create my project. So sad to see the Birthday Bright stamp set on the retiring list. I love the bold images in this set.
Today I will share the steps to create the inside box. I will share the steps to create the outside card in another post.
Start by die cutting 2 of the box pieces in Elegant Eggplant cardstock. Then I cut the tabs off both boxes as shown below.
I scored the center of the hexagon shape of the box on both pieces. Fold both pieces along all the score lines.
Using the box die, I also cut out the hexagon shape in Very Vanilla cardstock.
Cut away all the tabs, removing an extra 1/16″.
On the sides with no tab I cut off 1/16″
I cut the hexagon in half and removed and additional 1/16″ on each side of the center line.
Next I die cut the squares to decorate the outside panels of the box. I layered the detail dies with the laying squares die to cut them out at the same time.
Here is a look at each of the pieces I die cut out of the Bermuda Bay glimmer paper (sorry-this is from the sale-a-bration paper stack that is no longer available) and Very Vanilla cardstock.
I adhered all the die cut and stamped pieces to the outside of the box as shown below.
Adhere the boxes together along the side tabs.
I cut (2) 1″ x 3″ Elegant Eggplant tabs that are scored at 3/4″, 1 1/2″ and 2 1/4″.
Fold along the 1 1/2″ score line and punch a hole and clip through both layers at an angle as shown below.
Adhere the tabs to the inside tabs of the box. You will want to be sure the angled cut is facing the same direction and the placement left to right is about the same on both sides of the box.
Slide a small rubberband into the slits on both sides of the box.
Adhere the top and bottom of the box closed along the front tabs to complete the box.
What do you think?
Hope You Enjoy,
