Thanks for coming to my blog today! I’m super excited to be featured in this month’s International Highlights Top Ten Winners Blog Hop hosted by the amazing Kylie Bertucci. I was selected to participate in this hop by finishing in the top ten of the October 2018 International Highlights with my So Sorry For Your Loss card. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that voted for my card! I really do appreciate you taking time out to vote.
Today we are continuing with the Sorry theme for the Top Ten Winners Blog Hop. I hope you enjoy my creation.
I am using the same stamp sets (Rooted in Nature and Kindness & Compassion) I used in the original hop to show you can easily create a very different appearance with just a few changes.
The color scheme and texture really give this project a masculine feel, but is also has a softness to it with the Vellum layer. I think this one is very serene.
I decided to make a non-traditional size for this project and created a 5″ x 5″ card.
The subtle embossing folder added the perfect texture to the 4-3/4″ x 4-3/4″ basic Gray cardstock layer.
The wood ring is stamped on the 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″ Whisper White cardstock layer in Smoky Slate ink before layering onto the 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Basic Black cardstock.
Next I stamped the Tree onto the 3″ x 4-3/4″ Vellum layer in Stazon ink. You will want to be careful not to let your stamp slide when stamping on vellum so you get a clean image. Unlike the classic inks, Stazon will dry on the vellum, but does take a few minutes.
When adhering vellum to your projects you have to be strategic in where you place your adhesive so it does not show through to the front of your project. I used glue dots behind the stamped tree image to secure the vellum layer to the card front.
To keep the peaceful feel,I decided not to add a sentiment to the card front.
On the inside I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray ink and then brought the design to the inside by stamping in Smoky Slate ink.
Card Layers:
- 5″ x 10″ (folded in half) Basic Gray cardstock
- 4-3/4″ x 4-3/4″ Basic Gray cardstock
- 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Basic Black cardstock
- 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″ Whisper White cardstock
- 3″ x 4-3/4″ Vellum cardstock
- 4-3/4″ x 403/4″ Whisper White cardstock (inside)
