Today I am sharing the retirement cards I made for a couple of ladies I have worked with for several years at the day job featuring the Flower Flair dies and the Irresistibly Floral designer series paper.
So happy for them to move on to their next adventure in life and I wanted them to know I was thinking of them both.
To create the emboss resist technique I used the Bermuda Bay Ombre pad and drug it back and forth right on the designer paper. This is such an easy way to get your lighter and darker shades. I wanted a bit more depth so added some Night of Navy ink with a sponge. Once you achieve the desired intensity of color simply wipe the excess ink off the paper with a paper towel for the embossed images to sine through.
I love that the Irresistibly Floral designer series paper already has an embossed surface, making this technique super quick to do.
Next I added some interest by die cutting flowers out of the front of the designer paper layer with the Flower Flair dies and then popping them back onto the front of the card. I saw this super cool idea from Kylie Bertucci and just had to give it a try.
Isn’t it fun to see the cardstock peeking from below each flower?

- 11″ x 4 1/4″-score at 5 1/2″ Night of Navy card base
- 5 1/4″ x 4″ Whisper White cardstock
- 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ Bermuda Bay cardstock
- 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″ DSP
- 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″ Whisper White cardstock- card inside
- 3/4″ x 3 5/8″ DSP- card inside
