DIY Butterfly Bookmark | Easy Handmade Gift for Book Lovers (Video)

Most of us reach for our paper crafting supplies to make greeting cards—but every now and then it’s fun to create something a little unexpected.

Today’s project is a simple butterfly bookmark that’s quick to make, easy to personalize, and makes a thoughtful handmade gift for anyone who loves to read.

Whether you’re creating a small gift for a friend, surprising your book club, thanking a favorite teacher, or tucking something special inside a book you’re giving as a gift, this project comes together in just a few minutes and uses supplies you may already have on your craft table.

One of my favorite details is the butterfly. It folds flat inside the book but gently opens when the bookmark is in place, creating a sweet little surprise every time the book is picked up.

Sometimes the smallest handmade gifts become the ones people treasure the most.
