There’s something extra special about a handmade card that feels interactive the moment someone picks it up.

Today’s project features a simple cut away front design with a hidden magnetic closure that adds just enough surprise to make the card feel unique and memorable — without requiring complicated techniques or difficult folds.

One of my favorite things about this style of card is how polished it looks while still being very approachable to recreate. The scenic sunset paper from the Scenic Coast Suite does so much of the work for you, making it easy to create a card with beautiful color, movement, and visual interest without needing lots of layers or complicated stamping.

If you’ve ever struggled with masculine cards or wondered how to make your handmade cards feel a little more special without becoming overwhelming, this is a wonderful layout to try.

This project is also a great reminder that small design choices can completely change the overall feel of a card. The offset layout and cut away front create natural movement that helps guide your eye across the design while keeping the card feeling modern and balanced.

That’s one of the things I love most about cardmaking — tiny creative decisions like placement, spacing, and layering can completely transform the emotional feel of a project.

And the best part?

Layouts like this are incredibly easy to customize using papers and colors you already own. You could easily recreate this same idea for birthdays, encouragement cards, masculine cards, retirement cards, graduation cards, and so much more simply by changing the sentiment and paper choices.

There’s something relaxing about coastal-inspired cards… and today’s project is a wonderful reminder that masculine cards don’t have to feel difficult or complicated to create.

This slimline card combines soft beach-inspired colors, layered Adirondack chairs, and simple details to create a polished handmade card that feels thoughtful without requiring complicated techniques.

One of my favorite things about this design is how the repeated chair elements create movement across the card front while still keeping the layout calm and balanced. The soft coastal color palette gives the card a relaxed feel that works beautifully for Father’s Day, birthdays, encouragement cards, retirement cards, and so much more.

Masculine cards are something many cardmakers struggle with because it can feel challenging to create a card that still feels interesting without relying heavily on florals or embellishments. Projects like this are a great reminder that patterned paper, layering, repetition, and color choices can do much of the work for you.

The long slimline layout also gives your focal elements room to breathe, helping the design feel open and uncluttered while still creating plenty of visual interest. And because the overall layout is fairly simple, you can easily recreate this design using different colors, sentiments, or die cuts from your own collection.

I also love that this project feels polished and creative without becoming overwhelming. Sometimes the most effective cards are simply built from thoughtful layering, cohesive colors, and repeating elements that guide the eye naturally across the design.

Some cards just make people smile the moment they open them — and this Valentine Bear card is one of those projects.

What I love most about this design is that it looks playful and layered, but it’s built from simple steps that feel relaxing, not overwhelming. It’s the kind of card you can make when you want to enjoy the process and end with something meaningful to give.

Why You’ll Love This Card

There’s something especially meaningful about a handmade baby card. It doesn’t need to be over-the-top or complicated — it just needs to feel thoughtful, timeless, and made with care.

Today’s project is a slimline eclipse baby card that checks all of those boxes. It’s clean, elegant, and full of subtle texture, making it perfect for welcoming a new little one in a beautiful, heartfelt way.

I kept the design gender neutral, with soft white-on-white layers and texture doing most of the work. During the video, I share two alternate versions — one with a hint of pink foil and one with a soft blue accent — to show how easily this design can be customized without changing the layout.

One of my favorite parts of this project is using the Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder, a newer Online Exclusive. I also share a helpful tip in the video for extending an embossing pattern when your folder is smaller than your cardstock — a technique you’ll use again and again.

This card layout isn’t just for babies either. With different letters or images, it would work beautifully for weddings, birthdays, or even milestone celebrations.

Sometimes the best cards aren’t the most complicated ones.

Today’s project is a standard top-fold card—no fancy folds, no tricky mechanics—but it’s full of texture, layering, and sweet details that make it feel extra special. This is the kind of card you can create quickly, customize easily, and reach for again and again when you want something handmade without overthinking it.

Why You’ll Love This Card Design

What makes this card shine is how simple elements work together:

• A soft embossed background adds instant interest
• A layer of vellum gently softens the design
• Patterned paper brings in color and personality
• Small die-cut details and embellishments finish it off without overwhelming the card

It’s proof that you don’t need a complicated layout to create a card that feels thoughtful and complete.

Let the Paper Do the Work

One of my favorite things about this design is how easily it can be customized. For this version, I used a sweet lamb image, but the layout itself works beautifully with any character or focal image you love.

You could swap in:

• bunnies, puppies, or other animals
• floral images
• seasonal icons
• even sentiments as the main focal point

The same layout works every time—just change the paper and focal element to match the occasion or the person you’re creating for.

Even though this is a quick card, it doesn’t feel flat. The combination of embossing, vellum, and layered paper creates depth and dimension without adding bulk or complexity.

The woven basket detail is definitely the star — you can actually thread the tiny decorative strips through the basket die-cut, giving it the sweetest textured look. Inside the card, a simple stamped greeting and a couple of coordinating eggs tie everything together without adding bulk.

I also shared two alternate versions during the video to show how incredibly flexible this layout is. One features the project we’re making in my Diemonds team event — a festive Christmas design using the Christmas Tags & More Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Traditional Labels Bundle. The other is a soft, all-occasion card highlighting the Wildflower Birthday Designer Series Paper (which is currently on the Last Chance list!). All three cards use the exact same layout, but the mood completely changes depending on the paper and ephemera you choose. It’s a perfect “template” card you can remake for any season or recipient.

This 3-panel fun fold card uses the Peace on Earth bundle and coordinating products from the Peaceful Garden Suite to create a soft, serene design perfect for:

• Prayers & encouragement

…but the real magic lies in the soft vellum wings.

They add an ethereal glow and gentle movement that instantly elevates the entire card — without requiring advanced techniques.

Today I’m showing you how to create a split-front gift card holder that’s bursting with color and texture — perfect for birthdays, holidays, or anytime you want to surprise someone special with a little extra cheer.

This design features the Banner Sayings Bundle and Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder — two of my newest favorites from the latest release! Project Highlights

• Split-Front Design: A fresh twist on traditional gift card holders — this one reveals a pocket and a peek of the card front when opened.
• Banner Rainbow: I used all 10 colors from the Brights DSP Pack to create a layered, colorful banner cascade that makes the sentiment strip pop.
• Embossed Texture: The new Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder adds gorgeous depth to the Basic Beige panels without stealing the spotlight.
• Sentiment Selector: I stamped multiple sentiments down a white strip in coordinating colors, then added a “finder” window (die-cut with the “O” from Alphabet à la Mode Dies) to spotlight the perfect message — such a fun touch!
• Finishing Details: A twine bow and a few Brushed Brass Butterflies complete the look with elegance.

When you open the card, you’ll find the sentiment inside along with a built-in pocket for a gift card — perfect for birthdays, holidays, or thank-yous!

In today’s video, I walk you step-by-step through how to:

• Create the split-front card base and pocket
• Emboss with perfect placement
• Stamp and layer the rainbow sentiment strip
• Customize your “finder window” for a playful detail

Creative Tip:

Did you know you can easily test all your new stamps at once without removing them from the acetate sheet?

Before you peel anything off, ink them all up and stamp onto scrap paper. Then slide that sheet behind the carrier acetate — now you’ll always know where every image belongs!

In this week’s tutorial, I’m sharing an elegant textured card idea that’s simple enough for mass production but beautiful enough to gift or mail for any heartfelt occasion.

We’re featuring the Peace On Earth Bundle and Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper — both perfect for year-round “sending prayers” or thoughtful friendship cards. You’ll also see how to customize your label shape with one quick die-cutting trick you’ll want to use on every project!

• Features a clever label-cutting tip for flexibility

Cardmaking Tutorial Highlights:

For this design, we’re starting with a Thick Basic White card base and layering “cheater strips” of Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper to add color and pattern without using a full sheet. Then, we emboss coordinating cardstock with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder for instant texture.

Next, we cut the embossed panel into three strips and layer it onto Secret Sea cardstock to create dimension and visual balance.

The custom label trick is one of my favorite time-savers! Simply run a narrower cardstock strip through the die for a tailored label that perfectly fits your sentiment.

The “Sending Prayers” greeting is stamped in two shades of blue for a soft, layered look, then accented with a Secret Sea ribbon, die-cut foliage, and a flower embellishment.

Inside, a coordinating white panel layered on Secret Sea carries the sentiment and a simple paper accent for a polished finish.

Need a quick holiday card idea that still looks like it took hours?

Today’s project is all about making your Christmas cards shine without stress or fuss! I’m showing you how to combine a few simple layers, patterned paper, and one of my favorite “hidden gem” techniques — customizing your sentiment colors — for a polished, cohesive look every time.

And here’s a fun twist! I’m using some of the same supplies featured in my upcoming Christmas Craft-A-Stack Class (registration open now), so you’ll see just how versatile this class kit really is.

Today’s project was inspired by a card created by Karen Henderson.

For this design, I started with a Thick Basic White card base and added a festive background with one of the Christmas Tags & More Designer Series Papers. I tied a soft, elegant bow with the Gold Striped Mesh Ribbon and layered (3) fussy-cut images from the patterned paper on Real Red & Garden Green cardstocks die-cut with the Perennial Postage Dies.

For the sentiment, I taught how to customize your ink color using a Sponge Dauber — simply add ink directly onto your pre-printed sentiment pieces to make them coordinate perfectly with your card.

The design carries through to the inside with a coordinating strip of patterned paper and a second sentiment from the Greetings For You Ephemera Pack.

Pro Tip: This card design is quick to duplicate — perfect for your holiday cardmaking marathon!

Do you ever want to make beautiful Christmas cards without burning through your stash of Designer Series Paper (DSP)?
This week’s project is the perfect solution!

I’m sharing a fast and fabulous holiday card design that gives you the look of full panels of patterned paper — without using nearly as much.

This is one of those clever little techniques that saves time and supplies, so you can make stacks of cards without stress this season.

Design Inspiration

This card was inspired by one of the sketches in the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog — proof that design ideas are everywhere if you look for them!

It’s also one of the cards my Diemonds Team will be creating at our October team gathering, featuring the Modern Christmas Suite from Stampin’ Up!

The sketch-based design, simple layering, and festive finishes make it an instant favorite for new stampers and seasoned cardmakers alike.

Why You’ll Love This Design

• Uses “cheater strips” of patterned paper — great for scraps
• Creates the illusion of a full background without waste
• Layers beautifully with die-cut ornaments for dimension
• Easy to recreate for multiple cards in a sitting
• Perfect for mailing (flat, but elegant!)

The Card Details

For this project, I created a flat card base accented with “cheater” paper strips along the edges.
A smaller folded card front covers the seam where those strips meet, making it look like one full layer — such a satisfying optical illusion!

The focal point features two die-cut ornaments:

• A Gold Foil star
• A White bauble stamped with the sentiment in Black

The twine “hanging” the ornaments is wrapped behind the top layer to complete the illusion. A few loose gold stars finish the look for a touch of sparkle.

Ready to make a Halloween project that will seriously WOW?

Today I’m sharing a Halloween version of the Christmas Gift Card Treat Holder I taught this weekend at the NC Demos Fall Quarterly (hosted by my team member Jennifer Hamlin).

At the event, I was honored to serve as “MC” and teach all of the projects to fellow demonstrators — and this one was a huge hit! It’s part treat box, part gift card holder, and 100% fun.

Unlike the quick treats you might hand out to trick-or-treaters, this project is more elaborate — making it perfect for:

For this version, I featured the Fright Night stamp and die bundle paired with the Spooky Sweet Designer Series Paper (DSP) for a fun Halloween twist.

In today’s tutorial, I’m sharing a fast and elegant Christmas card design that you can quickly mass produce — perfect for making a whole stack of cards without losing that special handmade touch. Even better? With just a few tweaks, you can create multiple versions using different patterned papers for a gorgeous variety.

This elegant bauble card features the Traditional Labels Stamp Set paired with the Ornamental Christmas Dies for a versatile, festive look.

• Card Base: Thick Basic White
• Card Front: Layered Basic White with subtle scoring for texture.
• Focal Point: Ornament die-cut from Traditions of Christmas Designer Paper (6 specialty prints).
• Finishing Touches: Gold foil topper, Gold Striped Mesh ribbon bow, & Holographic Resin Dots.
• Inside: Coordinating scored layer + stamped sentiment.

In this week’s video tutorial, I’m sharing the Black Ice Technique—a dramatic way to transform foil cardstock into a textured, artistic focal point that looks like magic.

This card features warm fall colors, a bold sunflower texture, and a simple thank-you sentiment that makes it perfect for the season. Whether you’re looking to try something new or add extra wow-factor to your cards, this is a technique every cardmaker needs in their toolkit.

Why You’ll Love the Black Ice Technique

The magic happens in just three steps:

1. Dragging a StazOn ink pad across foil cardstock for that “black ice” streaked look.
2. Adding a layer of heat-embossed shine with clear powder.
3. Elevating it all with the gorgeous detail of dry embossing.

Frame it with rich fall tones, add a simple sentiment, and you’ve got a card that looks like a masterpiece but is easy to recreate.
