Thanks for coming to my blog today! I’m super excited to be featured in this month’s International Highlights Top Ten Winners Blog Hop hosted by the amazing Kylie Bertucci. I was selected to participate in this hop by finishing in the top ten of the May 2017 International Highlights with my Tarnished Foil masculine card. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that voted for my card! I am still doing the happy dance 🙂
Today we are continuing with the masculine theme for the Top Ten Winners Blog Hop.
My card today was inspired by one of the samples featured on page 83 of the new 2017-2018 catalog. I created this card for my husbands upcoming 50th birthday party (shhhh, don’t tell him). I hope he likes it!
I love how the Vellum layer gives the stamped images a bit of a muted look.
Card Layers:
- 4 1/4″ x 11″ Basic Black card base
- (3) 3 3/4″x 5″ Whisper White cardstock
- 4″ x 5 1/4″ Vellum cardstock
- Scrap Emerald Envy cardstock- die cut
- Scrap Basic Black cardstock- die cut 3
When stamping the candles on the 3 3/4″x 5″ Whisper White card front layer, I used a plastic ruler as a guide.
To give a bit more dimension to the die cut greeting I layered 4 die cuts together and then added some clear wink of stella to add a bit of shimmer to the top layer.
The additional 3 3/4″x 5″ Whisper White cardstock layer on the inside of the card front gives all our party guests plenty of space to write my husband a birthday note.
To finish my project I stamped a couple of candles to the outside of the envelope to coordinate with the card.

CreativeLee Yours,

Gorgeous card Wendy. What a fantastic idea to soften the images in the background so the word die cut stands out over the top. Love it. xxx
So glad you like it Cheryll
Love this Wendy. The vellum layer is genius! And the layered die cuts just make it all pop.
Thanks a bunch Lou
Lovely card, Wendy. I bet your husband will love it!
Thanks Danielle.
This is fabulous! I am going to CASE this for my son’s 5th birthday coming up, since 5 candles=big 5! Happy 50th to your husband!
So glad you can use the idea Rebecca
Great way to mute the candles and make your sentiment pop!
Thanks Sara
What a great card, Wendy! I love how simple, and perfect it is. I tend to forget about vellum, and am excited to get it out again! It has been too long.
So glad you liked it Nichole
Great techniques you’ve used on your project Wendy. Love the vellum and stacked die cut.
Thank you Jay
